| The Hermitage Museum
Egg features
an unbelievably detailed depiction of the State Hermitage Museum
in St. Petersburg. The museum was founded by
Catherine The Great in 1764. It adjoined the Winter Palace and
served as a gallery to house the Empress' art collection.
Under Nicholas I the Hermitage was reconstructed and opened to
the public in 1852. Today it consists of 5 buildings which include
the Winter Palace and the Small, Old, and New Hermitages. The
