Fabergé Box
Collection
Boxes: Faberge made dozens of boxes of every description and for varied purposes.
Cigar boxes for tables, cigarette boxes to be carried, compacts, visiting card
cases, and many for no purpose other than to be enjoyed as presentation boxes
from the Czar by whomever he was gifting. All were exquisite and flawlessly made
of gold or silver, sometimes of malachite, rock crystal or tortoise shell, mother
of pearl or semi precious materials. All were simply enclosures of space usually
with invisible hinges and tightly closing covers. The beautiful and perfect enclosure
of space is all that justified their existence. The recipients treasured them
and many of the boxes today reside in The Forbes Collection, The Queens Collection
and museums the world over.

The Gold Encrusted Cabachon Box.
Covered in gold with simulated engine turned design on the cover
and a cabachon stone in the center of the lid, this reproduction
is made entirely of Limoges porcelain. It is 4 inches by 2.5
inches, probably made as a cigarette box originally. The clasp
is the Romanov Double Eagle, and inside the box, a hammered
gold finish, simulating hammered gold metal, and on the inside
lid, "Ah! Que c'est bon l'amour!" Quite
possibly this was made for a French customer. Fabergé made
bibelots for royalty and the rich of many countries. Retail:
About $465.00. Our price: $418.90.
