Christmas in July? Two Very Special Boxes.
I ran across some Christmas boxes recently that I thought were just too
good to pass up simply because of the timing so I purchased both. I have
only the one piece of each and I am not certain that I will be able to
get more at the appropriate time of the year, although I think it will
be possible, so if these appeal to you, now is the time to speak up. Both
are from Chamart and are beautifully made.
Sorry,
the following item is by Special Order only.
A. The Toddler on Her
Christmas Sled Box. The figure of this little child is so perfect
that your hand just reaches out to touch her chubby little body. She is
dressed in a red snowsuit with snow, in relief, in patches on her snowsuit,
the sled and her little boots. Her mittens are Scandinavian style and
the design, as tiny as the mittens are, is painted in great detail. Her
face is adorable with wisps of her hair escaping from her snowsuit hood
and the face is sculpted so that all of the features are actually there,
not just painted on. A nice detail is that her tiny nose is red from the
cold. Some time ago we had a box from Chamart that I called "Hands
Down, The Best Kids Box Ever". This box equals that one for the quality
of the sculpting and for the figure. It is simply wonderful! It is available
in either red or blue. Blue will be by special order only. Our price:
$187.90. NEW

B. The Christmas Mailbox
Box. I am not generally smitten with mailbox boxes. I find most of
them ordinary. This one was requested as a special order by a favorite
customer and I liked it so much that I bought it for the catalog as well.
The base of the box is earth with holly leaves piled around the post on
which the mailbox is mounted and the box itself is decorated with holly
leaves and berries and patches of snow and two bright Cardinals perched
on the box, a third friend just below. It is so festive looking and wintry
looking it is amazing. You can just feel the cold looking at the box.
Interesting how the artist achieved that. Our price: $249.90. NEW
Note: I
have a very interesting arrangement with some quite good old friends regarding
Christmas. In recent years we have all become so busy at Christmas time,
they both work as do I, that we decided to save it for another time of
the year when we are not inundated with parties, Christmas shopping and
gift wrapping sessions and when we all can enjoy it without the usual
stresses and with the pleasure that it should bring. Result? We now celebrate
Christmas , just the three of us, in April and we all look forward to
it eagerly and have a ball exchanging gifts at a time when each gift can
be fully appreciated. You might want to try it. It really is fun and we
all get a huge kick out of it.
