Many months ago, when I first saw this particular bevy of boxes, I was struck by the lushness of the coloring and the excitement of the designs. Although these are all classic boxes in essence, they had a new feeling to them; they were more exciting than the usual classic boxes. Take a look and see if you don't agree. I think you, too, will find them exciting and want to add to your own collection of the classics. You do have some classics, don't you?

FF. The Baroque Keepsake Box third edition. The shape of the box is identical to our Victorian Keepsake boxes but the decor is dramatically changed. Notice that the cartouche is done in Rococo and is bolder than the light and airy ones used in the Victorian style boxes. Rococo was actually a phase of Baroque styling which first became popular during the reign of Louis XIV. It was the final phase of Baroque and also overlapped with the Règence period of decoration. When I think of Baroque or Rococo I always think "full blown". Everything was ripe, lush, almost heady. That was the nature of the period. Notice how pronounced is the feeling of fullness, both in the depth of the relief and the colors used. Inside a detail of the bluebells and the clasp, an intricate flower. Retail: About$201.00. Our price: $181.90. NEW This is a limited edition of 300, this piece numbered 299.

GG. The Fluted Bombé Chest. A quite small bombé done in a light hearted manner with the reserve filled with a fruit display and cameos of fruit around the base. The feeling of this piece is light and gay. The clasp, a bunch of grapes. Retail: About $175.00. Our price: $157.90. NEW A charmer if ever there was one.

HH. The Gift Box with a gift inside. I was looking for a gift box, we haven't had one in quite some time. When I saw this one I knew heaven meant it just for us. It looks like a confection with the tiny dimensional flowers on top, everything in pink and white. And then, you open it, and surprise!, a minuscule bouquet of flowers in a vase, dimensional and removable. Retail: About $195.00. Our price: $175.90. NEW and isn't it wonderful!

II. Elayne's Favorite Box. I never tire of this box and neither do our customers, so here it is again. Would you believe that we have been running this box for just about 5 years now? A soft yellow ground with a light and airy display of flowers inside and outside. The lid is white porcelain on the inside with the floral design repeated. The rest of the interior is gold washed. This is our famous seven- sided box. Posies for the clasp. Retail: About $195.00. Our price: $175.90. What is there to say after I say it is my longtime favorite?

JJ. The Black Velvet Perfume Box. It isn't velvet, of course, but it makes me think of black velvet and pearls. Black is such an unusual porcelain color. One rarely sees it. Here it used in a fluted cylindrical box, covered with deep pink roses, white lace and on the lid, dimensional, open faced flowers. Inside, two perfume flacons with jeweled tops set in a porcelain frame. The clasp, a spray of roses. Retail: About $285.00. Our price: $256.90. NEW and ever so elegant!

KK. The Everlasting Spring Box. Come winter on a dark and dingy day this is the box you will want to own. The bright sunshine yellow of the ground and gorgeous deep pink tulips and the charm of tiny nemesia all bring instant spring to your life. This is what I call a "feel good" box. Every time I look at it I can feel myself starting to smile. Inside a cluster of nemesia and a posy for the clasp. By Rochard, this is part of their Rehaussé Main Collection. Retail: About $225.00. Our price: $202.90. NEW and a delightful forcast of the spring to come.
